Healthcare in Pattaya
Choose a provider for the care you may need, confirm language and insurance handling directly, and keep visa health-cover rules separate from ordinary medical budgeting.
Key checks
- Urgent route
- Save a suitable nearby emergency option and the insurer's assistance route before a problem occurs; a provider directory is not an emergency plan.
- Planned care
- Confirm the department, clinician, language support and escalation or transfer capability for the actual case—not the hospital brand generally.
- Money and cover
- Obtain a written estimate and direct-billing answer, then verify personal insurance and any visa health-cover evidence as separate decisions.
For urgent symptoms, seek professional care. This page does not diagnose, rank hospitals or quote an insurance premium. Open primary sources
Plan here, verify with the provider
For an appointment, start with the named clinic and the patient’s needs. Ask the hospital to confirm the doctor, language and payment route; your insurer separately confirms cover.
Where to call and how to book
Use the contact for the named facility. Published services describe its role; they do not confirm a doctor, available bed or insurance approval for your appointment.
| Facility and location | Contact and appointment route | Published service role |

Confirm the interpreter for your appointment. Online booking is for planned care; the form directs same-day and emergency enquiries to the phone. |

The DDC travel clinic ↗ lists consultations and vaccinations, Tuesday/Thursday 13:00–16:00. These are clinic hours, not whole-hospital or emergency hours; call about appointments, charges and eligibility. |
Before planned care, have the patient’s age, specialty or existing diagnosis, preferred language and insurer/policy details ready. Send medical records through the provider’s requested channel. A booking request is not a confirmed appointment.
Accreditation is dated evidence
Bangkok Hospital Pattaya’s page lists a 2022 JCI accreditation, while two current hospital pages give different bed totals. We preserve those dates and conflicts rather than turning them into an undated quality or scale claim. Recheck the provider and accreditor if either fact is decisive.
Get a written, case-specific answer.
- 01Clinical capability
Name the procedure or specialty. Confirm the department, clinician and whether the facility can handle complications or transfer you.
- 02Language support
Ask whether interpretation is available for the appointment time and whether consent and discharge material can be provided in a language you understand.
- 03Written estimate
Request the consultation, professional, facility, medicines, imaging, pathology, implant and follow-up components. A package headline may not include all of them.
- 04Insurance pathway
Confirm direct billing, pre-authorisation, network status, deductible, co-pay and exclusions with both provider and insurer before treatment.
- 05Records and follow-up
Ask how you will receive clinical notes, images, prescriptions and an itemised invoice, especially if follow-up will happen outside Thailand.
- 06Emergency route
Save a nearby emergency option and your insurer’s assistance number. Do not wait for a preferred clinic if a genuine emergency needs a capable hospital.
Keep the medical estimate and insurance quotation separate: the treatment bill and the insurer’s payment are different amounts.
LTR, O-A and O-X are not interchangeable.
| Route | What the cited authority says | Planning action |
|---|---|---|
| LTR — all types | The 2025 BOI announcement allows one of three routes: health insurance covering medical expenses in Thailand of at least USD 50,000 with at least 10 months remaining; qualifying social-security medical benefits; or a USD 100,000 bank balance retained for at least 12 months. Dependants have separate deposit rules. | Choose one evidence route and verify the document format with the BOI LTR unit. |
| Non-immigrant O-A | The Ministry of Public Health/MFA guideline describes Thai or foreign insurance, or eligible social welfare, covering medical expenses including COVID-19 for at least USD 100,000 / THB 3 million. It also describes a separate evidence route for certain applicants denied insurance. | Use the applying embassy or extension office’s current checklist; certificate and authentication rules matter. |
| Non-immigrant O-X | Official materials are not sufficiently consistent for this page to present the O-A threshold as a universal O-X rule. | Check the Thai mission handling the application and the current official O-X insurance list before buying cover. |
| Other routes | No rule should be inferred from LTR, O-A or O-X. | Read the exact visa or extension checklist and separate immigration compliance from personal risk planning. |
Correction: LTR does have a health-evidence requirement
The previous page said LTR did not mandate health cover. The BOI’s current rule instead requires insurance, qualifying social security or a retained deposit. We also removed the unsupported claim that O-A and O-X share one universal THB 3 million rule.

// Turn provider facts into a usable care plan
Build the care route, money file and arrival setup separately.
A hospital name cannot answer whether a department fits the case, whether an insurer will pay or what must be arranged after arrival. Preserve written answers for each decision.
// Care-planning sequence
Plan the care pathway before you need it.
Start with the urgent route, then verify provider, cost, cover and follow-up for your case.
Emergency route
Save a nearby emergency option and your insurer’s assistance number.
Provider role
Confirm the department, clinician, language support and ability to manage complications or transfer you.
Written estimate
Request an itemised, case-specific estimate rather than relying on a package headline.
Insurer confirmation
Confirm direct billing, pre-authorisation, network status, deductible, co-pay and exclusions with both sides.
Records and access
Keep clinical records and an itemised invoice, then plan follow-up and how you will reach the chosen provider.
